blog challenged

Well I've not put a post here for so long that I'd forgotten to do so... HUH?
OK... STUDIO 802 has been busy. It's just not been being used as a public venue. I'm using it to make conceptual artistic manifestations that are being displayed in other venues. I could of double posted all the stuff from Atomic Elroy's Trinity Project but that is just not my style. If you clicky on the linky all will be revealed.
Hope to have our performance project up in a few months, and perhaps we'll premiere it at 802.
Now that thing have simmered down a bit I'm going to re-evaluate the web presence and will quit likely consolidate everything to theatomicelroy.com portal.
say cheese!

I'm currently working this project...
NAME CHANGE:
The new Title to this work is:
MARILYN MATRIX
a Video at CSFAC's Life as a Legend: Marilyn Monroe. May 3- July 5, 2008
For this video I've created a character named MM. Not actually a pastiche of Marilyn Monroe, but more of a re-imagining of her legend. a device to examine how Pop culture and it's legends have both expanded people's consciousness about how society and especially the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY depicts, and treats women, and how it has also contracted that view into a narrow politically correct model. For seven of the works I'll use archive footage of Marilyn Monroe, that I'll remix, for the remaining work, I'll shoot video of an actress playing the role of MM. The work will deal with how The Legend of MM have changed our view of beauty and women. Also as usual I'll try to infuse elements of humor into the work to keep thing from getting too pedantic.
UPDATE:
I've removed the I Ching concept, as it was becoming too restrictive. I've added Text to the work. A childlike narrative of MM's legend that I have NO IDEA where I'll put.

“The shrunken head of the Hamlet tragedy”
"[HAMLETMACHINE] may be read as a pamphlet against the delusions of innocence in this, our world." - Heiner Müller
About the author
Heiner Müller
(1929-1995)
Heiner Muller, East German author of Hamletmachine and Medea, was the preeminent German successor of Bertholt Brecht at the end of the twentieth century. Muller reflects on the laws of history from the standpoint of someone straddling the Berlin Wall. Muller saw the wall as both repression and protection of his compatriots from the inevitable triumph of capitalism. His work evokes the wit and compactness of Brecht, with an added psychotropic dimension. Haunted by World War II, Muller was a leading figure in European contemporary literature, whose writing anticipates a future beyond the bipolarity of twentieth-century politics.
Born in Eppendorf, E Germany. Initially a journalist, he worked at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in East Berlin (1958–9), was a playwright for the Berlin Ensemble (1970–6), and became one of its directors in 1992. A Communist, his work was influenced by Bertolt Brecht and is vigorously anti-fascist, humanist, and later also critical of the socialist regime in East Germany. He wrote plays together with his wife, Inge Müller, and adaptations of Shakespeare and classical drama, including Philoktet, Oedipus Tyrann, Hamletmachine and Medea. One of the most significant and much-performed playwrights of the 20th-c, he was awarded the Georg-Büchner-Preis in 1985 and the Kleist Preis in 1990.
He is certainly the most theatrically challenging playwright of our epoch. Starting as a protege of Bertolt Brecht, Müller evolved into one of the great innovative poets of the century, writing texts for the stage that seem to defy the limitations of theatre.
